History of Building

Carriage Hill Elementary School, home of the Cougars, opened its doors in 1969 as part of the district's expansion to accommodate growing enrollment in the Papillion-La Vista area. Proudly displaying maroon and silver as its colors, the school was named after the Carriage Hill housing development in which it was built, reflecting the area's growth and community-centered approach to education.

Over the years, Carriage Hill has undergone several renovations and expansions to keep up with educational advancements and increasing student numbers. A significant addition was made as part of a 1992 bond issue, adding new classrooms and updating existing facilities. Further improvements were made in the late 1990s, continuing to enhance the school's learning environment.

The Cougar mascot, symbolizing strength and adaptability, reflects the school's commitment to fostering these qualities in its students. Carriage Hill has been known for its strong community involvement, fostering a collaborative approach to education. The school has also implemented various innovative programs over the years, including early adoption of technology in the classroom and an emphasis on environmental education.

As part of the 2018 Bond project, Carriage Hill received additional improvements, including safety and security upgrades, additional classrooms, and kitchen expansion. These enhancements further modernized the school while maintaining its commitment to providing an excellent educational environment.
